Corona vaccination and updates.
Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting people against harmful diseases,
before they come into contact with them. It uses your body’s natural defenses to build resistance to specific infections and makes your immune system stronger. Vaccines train your immune system to create antibodies, just as it does when it’s exposed to a disease. However, because vaccines contain only killed or weakened forms of germs like viruses or bacteria, they do not cause the disease or put you at risk of its complications.
Most
vaccines are given by an injection, but some are given orally (by mouth) or
sprayed into the nose. Vaccination is a safe and effective way to prevent
disease and save lives – now more than ever. Today there are vaccines available
to protect against at least 20 diseases, such as diphtheria, tetanus,
pertussis, influenza and measles. Together, these vaccines save the lives of up
to 3 million people every year. When we get vaccinated, we aren’t just
protecting ourselves, but also those around us. Some people, like those who are
seriously ill, are advised not to get certain vaccines – so they depend on the rest
of us to get vaccinated and help reduce the spread of disease.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccination
continues to be critically important. The pandemic has caused a decline in the
number of children receiving routine immunizations, which could lead to an
increase in illness and death from preventable diseases. WHO has urged countries
to ensure that essential immunization and health services continue, despite the
challenges posed by COVID-19.
India already has
two approved COVID-19 vaccines – Covishield and Covaxin- that are currently
being administered to eligible Indians. So far, frontline and healthcare
workers, as well as people above 60 years of age and people over 45 years of
age with co-morbidities, were being administered the vaccines.
Beginning March, India has extended COVID-19 vaccination to include people above 60 years, and those who are 45-plus with co-morbidities. So far 24.3 million people in the country have got at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. There isn't much choice for people in India between Serum Institute of India’s (SII) Covishield and Bharat Biotech's Covaxin. Covishield, which has been widely used for inoculation, is manufactured and distributed by SII with a license from AstraZeneca-Oxford University.
HOW DO VACCINES WORK?
Vaccines are a
simple, safe and effective way to protect people against harmful diseases. A
vaccine uses your body’s natural defenses to build resistance to an infection.
The vaccine trains your immune system to create antibodies, just as it does
when it’s exposed to a disease. Vaccines contain killed or weakened forms of
viruses or bacteria. They do not give you the disease. They do not put you at
risk of serious symptoms. Most vaccines are given by injection, but some are
given orally (by mouth) or sprayed into the nose. WHO estimates that vaccines
save between 2 and 3 million lives every year.
ARE VACCINES SAFE?
Vaccines are very safe. A person is far more
likely to be seriously harmed by a disease than by a vaccine. Common vaccines
(like the Polio vaccine) have been used for decades. Millions of people receive
them safely every year. Every vaccine needs to go through large-scale testing
before it can be used. Vaccines are then monitored. Side effects can occur
after getting a vaccine but. However, these are usually minor and don’t last
long , such as a sore arm or a mild fever. More serious side effects are
possible but are extremely rare.
WHO SHOULD GET
VACCINES FIRST?
Government order to
·
high-risk health workers
·
older, at-risk adults
·
other older adults
·
people with co-morbidities
·
other at-risk groups
·
school staff
·
other essential workers
this kinds of peoples should get vaccination
first.
Vaccination helps to stop pandemic quickly Safe and effective. vaccines will be a
gamechange but we don’t yet know how long it will take to stop the pandemic.
How quickly vaccines can stop the pandemic will depend on:
·
how well it works
·
when vaccines are approved
·
how quickly doses can be produced
·
how quickly they are distributed
·
how many people get vaccinated.
Most scientists expect that COVID-19 vaccines
will not be 100% effective. More research is needed to know how effective
vaccines are against different variants. A vaccine will help protect you
against disease if you get the virus. We do not know yet if it will also stop
the virus from spreading to other people. Vaccines are a critical tool but we
must continue to;- wear masks - physically distance - avoid crowded places We
need as many people as possible to get vaccinated to help stop the pandemic. When
its your turn get vaccine ASAP. As soon as possible.
The world's largest four well known
pharmaceutical companies are producing the corona vaccine. In this collection
we will look at the extent to which the corona vaccines produced by those
companies protect humans from the coronavirus.
ABOUT VACCINE OPTIONS
·
Moderna vaccine
·
Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine
·
Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine
·
Johnson & Johnson vaccine
The Moderna vaccine
This vaccine is 92% effective in protecting against COVID-19,
starting 14 days after the first dose. Get two doses, 28 days apart. Wait for
15 minutes of observation after vaccination. If you have a severe allergic
reaction, do not get a 2nd dose.
Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine
The Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine provides 63.09%
protection against COVID-19 symptoms. You should get 2 doses, 8 to 12 weeks
apart. We need more research on the effectiveness of a single dose. Health workers and people over 65 should get
the vaccine first. The vaccine is also recommended for people with
comorbidities. People who are immunocompromised (e.g. those with HIV) and those
with auto-immune conditions may get the vaccine after getting information and
counselling. People who have had COVID-19
